Psalm:

Psalm 106:1-5

1 Praise the Lord!
   O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
   for his steadfast love endures for ever.
2 Who can utter the mighty doings of the Lord,
   or declare all his praise?
3 Happy are those who observe justice,
   who do righteousness at all times.

It’s not always easy to observe justice and do righteousness at all times, especially when fear takes over us.  This Psalm reminds us that we owe everything we have to God, that everything is a gift from him.  So we should never fear when we are asked or feel led to give outside of our comfort zone: whether that be of money, time or efforts.  That is why Proverbs 3: 27 reminds us

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

It doesn’t say when it is comfortable to do so.  Or when it is convenient.  But rather that when it is in your power.

Reminder – Families in Urgent need

IMG-20150910-WA0046 We have been alerted by the authorities that yesterday’s rain storm destroyed the homes of 2 families in our area, and they have asked us to assist with food, clothes & blankets.  In particular, we are looking to provide clothes for 6 children, ages 2 – 12 years of age.  IMG-20150910-WA0050Pampers, milk and other basic toiletries would also be readily accepted and needed.  Anyone that is able to donate, please bring your donations urgently to the church.  If you need to drop them off, you may do so to the missions office in the 773 basement, or contact Roland (our pastor) or Betsy (misiones@balboaunionchurch.org) to coordinate these donations.  IMG-20150910-WA0048Every little bit matters.

The following photos were taken in different parts of Panama City last week, and give you an idea of the extent of the flooding.  But so far, we have only been asked to assist with these 2 families who have lost everything.
