Verse & Thought for this week:

2 Corinthians 12: 9-10

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

GodsStrength

Many times we find ourselves suffering from TATT – Tired All The Time.  It’s so common that it’s actually been given an acronym in the medical field.  Dr Rupal Shah, a GP in south London, says tiredness is one of the most common complaints she sees in her surgery. “I see loads and loads of patients who complain of feeling exhausted, even though they’re sleeping well. Often it’s been going on for several months.” And yet, these same doctors explain that it’s unusual to find anything physically wrong. Most of the time, fatigue is linked with mood and the accumulation of lots of little stresses in life.

While this may be linked to our lifestyle or a particular life situation we are going through, most of the time it’s a result of quality of life choices that we are making on a daily basis.  We are forgetting to focus on being grateful to God for what we have, and may be focusing our energy on acquiring what we don’t have.  We have forgotten that God is our Source, even for energy, and we see our tiredness as “my weakness”.  If only I would work a little harder.  If only I wasn’t so tired all the time.

May it’s time to stop and say “Here You go God, I can’t carry this any longer.  I pass it over into Your hands, and I’m listening for Your instructions regarding how to carry on.”  If only we would stop and listen… Then we could boast all the more gladly in our weakness, knowing that God really does take care of us and give us His strength and direction.

Dear God,

Thank You for another day! Thank You for my life and the purpose You have given me. I come before You tired and ask for a refreshed spirit. My hope is in you, Abba, Father, for you promise daily mercies, steadfast love and sufficient grace.  Fill me with joy, so that no matter how tired I am, I rejoice because You are good and Your love endures forever. My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

Because Jesus embraced the ultimate weakness and weariness of the cross, I’m confident of your burden-bearing love. You are the perfect, present and persistent Father. Help us not to complain amidst our weakness. Restore our minds so that we can still function properly. Give our bodies the energy needed to get through each day. Please also help us to manage our time so that we will get the rest we need.  Help us to prune things that are hard to let go of that suck the energy from us.

In Jesus’ name AMEN!
