Prayer Concerns and Celebrations for October – Personas por quienes orar en Octubre

Undergoing treatment for cancer – Combatiendo cáncer: Nilka Rivera; Diana de Aguilar she is suffering the effects of radiotherapy.

Celebration for those in remission:
David Goldfield, Juana Clark.

Other health concerns among members, loved ones and friends of BUC:
We continue to pray for pastor Bill Wilbur that he will recover soon. We pray for Maria Amparo Castillo de Kuruklis, Ally`s grandmother she is hospitalized.

Please Pray for Our Brothers and Sisters from Syria and Iraq and all the refugees.
Thank you, Lord, for all our dear friends and family here at the Balboa Union Church

Fundraising for the purchase of 773 Land

2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

We continue our recent fundraising effort to purchase the land under Building 773, across the street from the Church & parsonage.  As many of you know, BUC applied in 2000 for the purchase of the land, according to the terms of the Panama Canal treaty, of all three of our buildings: the church, the parsonage and building 773.  In 2012, thanks to the efforts of past and current members, the purchase of the land under the church and parsonage was finalised, and we were given title to not only our buildings, but also the land. At this time, we have title to building 773 itself, but we do not own the land under and around it.

We are asking all friends and members to collaborate and assist in any and all ways possible, financially, with their skills and time, so that we can make this purchase also a reality.  We ask you to give generously, as you are willing and able.

Please contact Leslie, our church secretary, for details on how you can make donations to this fundraising, or contact one of the Council members for more details if you have any questions.

Looking for a Forever Home:

This is Athena, a 3 month old kitten that was recently rescued by one of our members, an active rescuer with Mis Huellitas and other groups.
Athena was spayed on July 28th and has fully recovered from this.  She has already had her first vaccine and has already been treated for parasites.
Originally Athena was rescued June12, by Mis Huellitas volunteers, in Arraijan (in a dump behind of primary school).  The first 3 weeks of her rescue were touch and go, with the veterinarian unsure whether she would pull through.  By the end of June, there was more hope for her recovery, after undergoing a third treatment for parasites and antibiotics.
Athena is now a playful kitten, who loves nothing better than to get cuddles and purr her heart out on your lap or in your arms.  She will follow you around the house!  She is good with other cats and not scared of dogs, as her temporary home has 2, one of which is a playful 9 month old puppy that loves to play with her (sometimes a little roughly).
Athena suffers from a little waddle & swing when she walks due to an injury (either at birth or before being rescued) – but this in no way stops her from running, playing, climbing or jumping.

If you are interested in becoming Athena’s slave and servant for the next 10-20 years, please apply calling Beth Gray:  2280916 (on Tuesday or after as they are closed for the weekend).
