Fundraising for the purchase of the Land – Building 773
2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”
We continue our recent fundraising effort to purchase the land under Building 773, across the street from the Church & parsonage. As many of you know, BUC applied in 2000 for the purchase of the land, according to the terms of the Panama Canal treaty, of all three of our buildings: the church, the parsonage and building 773. In 2012, thanks to the efforts of past and current members, the purchase of the land under the church and parsonage was finalised, and we were given title to not only our buildings, but also the land. At this time, we have title to building 773 itself, but we do not own the land under and around it.
We are asking all friends and members to collaborate and assist in any and all ways possible, financially, with their skills and time, so that we can make this purchase also a reality. We ask you to give generously, as you are willing and able.
Please contact Leslie, our church secretary, for details on how you can make donations to this fundraising, or contact one of the Council members for more details if you have any questions.

Last Sunday in Balboa Union Church
Last Sunday in our church was our friend Jorge Arbesu and his wife Nicole explaining the importance of Law 61 about sex education for studenst in the Panama schools.
Here we are my wife Nicole Neira, our son tiago who is about to be born and I coming home after having had the opportunity to expose our support to the adoption of the act 61 of sexual education in Panama.
We are very grateful with the church of union of Balboa for this space that they gave us today during their religious service of Sunday. In the talk we discuss personal experiences that served to reconfirm the urgency that we adopt this law that promotes sexual education in Panama.
I told my personal experience of how despite the fact that I had parents very present, my 8 years I’ve been touched inappropriately by an employee in my home and the taboo and afraid to talk about gender I never dared to tell my parents what Happened.
After my talk, a lady called Connie told me as he has been fighting for sexual education in Panama from 1979. was in 1979 when Connie met a grandmother of 28 years! Situation that the marked and inspired her to fight for the sake of sexual education in Panama. He told me like it’s been almost 40 years and unfortunately has not yet achieved his goal.
During our preparations, we agreed we how is this act of sexual education. On the page of the assembly, www.asamblea.gob.pa we saw the report of the first debate of the draft law made on 4 March 2015 and as it is in that debate participated university centres such as the university of Panama and university of the Americas; Religious institutions such as the Catholic Church, the evangelical alliance, the friends of Jesus and Mary; guilds doctors as the technical council of psychology, the faculty of education and medicine of the university of Panama as well as more than 20 people in a personal capacity And many other organizations.
We discussed how this law will serve to integrate the families and enable conversations between children, daughters and their parents as provided in article 7 “… The State…. Will have the responsibility to design programmes to ensure that education is provided to… Fathers, mothers, Guardians or acudientes…” Or the article 8 where it says “… Linked to the father of the family, through school for parents…” As well as article 9 which promotes “… All methods available, including abstinence from sexual intercourse…”
I think it’s time to accept the extensive work of years that has made people like Mrs. Connie since 1979, the work he has done aplafa since 2008 and the consensus and participation of various sectors in the drafting of the law from 2015. It is time to commit, to lose the fear, to hide the garbage under the carpet and to look the other way, it is time to act for the generations of tomorrow!
Me and my family we invite you to read the lawhttp://www.asamblea.gob.pa/proyley/2014_P_061.pdf so you can validate what in this written I share and join us to take the plunge for a change for Panama. I hope the next 25th of July in the large concentration in favour of sexual education at plaza concord from 4:30 pm to say together; #edsexualsi
P.S. If you agree with me please share this message, if not, write to me on the straight and with pleasure, we are discussing the reasons why I support the bill.
Happy Sunday to all and all.
