This Sunday at Balboa Union Church
Membership Classes
This week Joel Guerra will be organising a new members class, as we have had interest from some of our regular new visitors who would like to formally join the church.
The class will be held at 9:30am on Sunday, May 8th.
If you are interested in becoming a member – either as an Active Member or as an Associate Member (maintaining your membership in your “home church”) – please contact Joel or Leslie to organise the time and date for the classes.
Sunday May 8th – We will be formally welcoming new members into the congregation during this Sunday morning’s service, and will coordinate any further welcoming services as needed for new members, as classes are held.
Community Service-4:00 PM
We will be holding a community service, jointly with Saint Mary’s church, at 4.00 p.m., out in the open by Lot 773 – thanking God for another year of Community in San Pablo & Tabernilla (our 2 streets around the 2 churches), and also giving thanks for the rain that has finally arrived.
The community has requested that members of Balboa Union Church, not simply those that live in the area, attend and participate in this thanksgiving service.
Pastor Reyes will be leading for Balboa Union Church and we are waiting to coordinate all of the details with the Priest from Saint Mary’s.

Fundraising for the purchase of the Land – Building 773
2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”
We continue our recent fundraising effort to purchase the land under Building 773, across the street from the Church & parsonage. As many of you know, BUC applied in 2000 for the purchase of the land, according to the terms of the Panama Canal treaty, of all three of our buildings: the church, the parsonage and building 773. In 2012, thanks to the efforts of past and current members, the purchase of the land under the church and parsonage was finalised, and we were given title to not only our buildings, but also the land. At this time, we have title to building 773 itself, but we do not own the land under and around it.
We are asking all friends and members to collaborate and assist in any and all ways possible, financially, with their skills and time, so that we can make this purchase also a reality. We ask you to give generously, as you are willing and able.
Please contact Leslie, our church secretary, for details on how you can make donations to this fundraising, or contact one of the Council members for more details if you have any questions.

UPDATE ON PASTOR LUIS VEAGRA (FRIDAY, APRIL 22):
Pastor Luis Veagra is quite delicate, everything is as the same health status that our last update , this week he went to his regular medical date , there is no chage .
Last May 1, made three years since his beloved wife, Saray, died.
The family thanks all those who have been visiting. To name a few, Gerry and Grace, Martha Maduro, Walter Borer, Colombino, Betty, Reynaldo Taylor, Nadine, Luis, Roland and others….thank you…thank you.
We need to continue to keep him in our prayers for comfort, support and encouragement as he faces these difficult days during his illness.
UPDATE ON PASTOR BILL WILBUR (SUNDAY, MAY1)
Dear Friends and Family,
Thanks so much for your prayers for Pastor Wilbur! After being in ICU with both polymyositis and Guillian Barre, he is home now and feeling much better. Today he put in an appearance at church to thank everyone for their prayers, but he could not stay long. A physical therapist at our church is helping him recover with exercises he does at the swimming pool at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Soon he should be back to normal!
Thanks again for your prayer support of Pastor Wilbur over the last couple of weeks!
