My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12: 9

God does not seek heroes or superstars. God seeks messengers who carry his message. The messengers get tired; they are allowed to get tired. We are normal people; we are human.
In the business world, in politics and especially in sports, super performance is required. In sports only one can win (one team or one athlete). A coach who gained nothing, finds himself out of a job. In the world of business and trade, products and services have to be sold.  This is a hard work.
God does not expect that. In God’s environment we have the right to be what we are: simply human. We don’t have to convince anyone.

God’s grace is sufficient. God’s power is active, not our performance.

The apostle Paul wrote that to the Christian community in Corinth. They would have liked to be guided by a «super apostle» (2 Cor 12:11), but that does not exist. That would not help either. The portion of grace that God gives us is enough. With that portion we can make the next step and complete our next task. That will make us happy and here we´ll find the source of joy.

«Good Deeds» Program

We are currently also looking at the possibility of assisting with the «Good Deeds» program in Casco Viejo, which is a special program for children and young people in Casco Viejo, where they are given tokens in exchange for good deeds that they do in the community (such as sweeping the streets, gardening in the parks, etc.).  These tokens are then exchangeable at the «Good Deeds stall», which is a small «shop» in Casco Viejo where they Exchange their tokens for donated items – old bicycles, toys, videos, games and even food items.  We are currently helping with baby ítems (primarily formula and milk) as this was the most requested item required, and we contiue to support this store as part of the extension of our presence into the community.  We are also considering how we can better team with the volunteers in Casco Viejo, to provide educational programs and training for the mothers as well as the children.

Visit to Hogar Luz y Vida

This coming Monday, July 6, Beth Gray & Leslie will be visiting the Hogar Luz y Vida, to speak with the program administrator, to see how Balboa Union Church can assist and support their work.  We are looking to organise a monthly visit to their home, so that we can share time with the elderly, sharing a meal or afternoon tea and generally just providing these elderly with the dignity they deserve.  For more information regarding this home and its location, you can see: http://www.asociacionluzyvida.org/.  Or please join Beth & Leslie on their visit Monday morning, 11.00 a.m.
