Today’s verse & prayer<\/h1>\n

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness \u2013 on them light has shined. (Isaiah 9: 1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Advent – we start our preparations for Christmas. The horrific moments in Paris will not fit at all to our plans. The terrorist attacks in Paris have shown us in what kind of world we live. Unfortunately, this is a bitter reality in many other places in our world; but television shows us only a few places.<\/p>\n

This biblical verse was written 700 years before Christ. Also at that time people experienced war and fear, oppression and danger.<\/p>\n

Advent – into this world Christ was born, in our real world. Christmas is not a romantic story of fairies and wonders. Rather, God comes and enters right into our chaos; so chaos and death have no longer the last word.<\/p>\n

That is why we continue to say ‘no’ to hatred, violence and any form of coercion. That’s not God’s will. In the midst of darkness God kindled a light. We also want to do that; this remains our constantly task.<\/p>\n

Lord, please remind the world that we are all brothers and sisters and there should be no violence among us, only love and attempts to understand one another.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
