Visit to \u00abHogar Luz y Vida\u00bb in Paraiso<\/h3>\n

On Monday morning Leslie & Beth visited Hogar Luz y Vida in Paraiso. \u00a0This is a very nice facility with about 26 residents.<\/p>\n

However, given that they appear to be very well organised and funded, we have decided that we will visit 3 more homes in the area before making a decision regarding which home to support in our missions program.<\/p>\n

This Tuesday, July 14, at 11.00 a.m. we will be visiting Hogar San Pedro Nolasco, Parroqu\u00eda de F\u00e1tima (Chorillo).<\/p>\n

On Thursday, July 16, 11.00 a.m. we will be visiting Hogar Nueva Vida (Howard).<\/p>\n

If you would like to join us on these visits, please do not hesitate to contact Betsy Moran or Beth Gray.<\/p>\n

\u00abGood Deeds\u00bb Program<\/h3>\n

We are currently also looking at the possibility of assisting with the \u00abGood Deeds\u00bb program in Casco Viejo, which is a special program for children and young people in Casco Viejo, where they are given tokens in exchange for good deeds that they do in the community (such as sweeping the streets, gardening in the parks, etc.).\u00a0 These tokens are then exchangeable at the \u00abGood Deeds stall\u00bb, which is a small \u00abshop\u00bb in Casco Viejo where they Exchange their tokens for donated items – old bicycles, toys, videos, games and even food items.\u00a0 We are currently helping with baby \u00edtems (primarily formula and milk) as this was the most requested item required, and we contiue to support this store as part of the extension of our presence into the community.\u00a0 We are also considering how we can better team with the volunteers in Casco Viejo, to provide educational programs and training for the mothers as well as the children.<\/p>\n
