Fundraising for the purchase of the Land – Building 773

2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

We continue our recent fundraising effort to purchase the land under Building 773, across the street from the Church & parsonage.  As many of you know, BUC applied in 2000 for the purchase of the land, according to the terms of the Panama Canal treaty, of all three of our buildings: the church, the parsonage and building 773.  In 2012, thanks to the efforts of past and current members, the purchase of the land under the church and parsonage was finalised, and we were given title to not only our buildings, but also the land. At this time, we have title to building 773 itself, but we do not own the land under and around it.

We are asking all friends and members to collaborate and assist in any and all ways possible, financially, with their skills and time, so that we can make this purchase also a reality.  We ask you to give generously, as you are willing and able.

Please contact Leslie, our church secretary, for details on how you can make donations to this fundraising, or contact one of the Council members for more details if you have any questions.

Volunteers Needed!

webdesignWe have updated our website to include the code and plugins necessary to publish our entire Church website in Spanish.  Beth & Leslie will be working arduously over the coming days & weeks to translate each of the pages into Spanish, so that it is available for our visitors in either English or Spanish, according to their browser settings.

We would appreciate greatly any volunteers that can assist with either:

translating or

proof-reading

in Spanish as we progress on this project.

We would also appreciate feedback and constructive suggestions regarding content of the website which should be updated at this time.  We appreciate any and all assistance that can be given. For volunteering or simply providing feedback about the website, please write to us at the newsletter email address.

What have we been up to this week at BUC?

This week new windows arrived for the 773 Basement and we have been working on installation.  We still have a lot of work to do on this, but here are some photos of what we have done so far.

UPDATE ON PASTOR BILL WILBUR

billwilbur

So many of you have prayed for me.  The doctors and hospital staff gave such great wisdom that I began to recover in miraculous time.  Just this week my protein blood level came at 207, which is the lowest I have had since I was treated ( previously it had been as high as 6,700!)   I still have a few months for medical and physical therapy to go, but I have gained much strength.  Thank you so much for continued prayer!
Blessings
Pastor Bill

Looking for a Forever Home:

This is Athena, a 3 month old kitten that was recently rescued by one of our members, an active rescuer with Mis Huellitas and other groups.
Athena was spayed on July 28th and has fully recovered from this.  She has already had her first vaccine and has already been treated for parasites.
Originally Athena was rescued June12, by Mis Huellitas volunteers, in Arraijan (in a dump behind of primary school).  The first 3 weeks of her rescue were touch and go, with the veterinarian unsure whether she would pull through.  By the end of June, there was more hope for her recovery, after undergoing a third treatment for parasites and antibiotics.
Athena is now a playful kitten, who loves nothing better than to get cuddles and purr her heart out on your lap or in your arms.  She will follow you around the house!  She is good with other cats and not scared of dogs, as her temporary home has 2, one of which is a playful 9 month old puppy that loves to play with her (sometimes a little roughly).
Athena suffers from a little waddle & swing when she walks due to an injury (either at birth or before being rescued) – but this in no way stops her from running, playing, climbing or jumping.

If you are interested in becoming Athena’s slave and servant for the next 10-20 years, please apply calling Beth Gray:  2280916 (on Tuesday or after as they are closed for the weekend).
